Atari Brings the Magic of the Upcoming Peter Pan Motion Picture to the Game Boy Advance. The Classic Epic Adventure Comes To Life in New Video Game and Movie

BEVERLY, Mass. (BUSINESS WIRE) - Dec. 19, 2003 - The action of one of this holiday's highly-anticipated movies comes to life in an action adventure game, Atari, Inc. Announced today. Shipping to retail stores nationwide this week, Peter Pan: The Motion Picture Event for Game Boy(R) Advance, captures all of the action and excitement of the upcoming Universal Pictures, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios film of the same name, taking players on a magical journey with Peter Pan from his first meeting with Wendy until the final confrontation with Captain Hook. Peter Pan opens nationwide on December 25, 2003.

A haunting tale of adventure, discovery, and dreams, Peter Pan has thrilled audiences around the world since it premiered on a London stage 100 years ago. The classic story of the boy that wouldn't grow up - and the girl whose family insists that she must - comes to life in a major motion picture and a video game this holiday season.

"We are excited to be releasing this Peter Pan game in time for the holiday release of the motion picture. The game will appeal to everyone who sees the movie or knows the classic tale as they will be able to relive the storyline and, for the first time ever, take part in the action," said Nancy MacIntyre, vice president of marketing for Atari, Inc.

In the Peter Pan game, kids play as the main character, solving puzzles, collecting various items, avoiding threatening obstacles, and sword-fighting with dangerous enemies. Players take part in the action as the storyline unfolds with Peter, Wendy, John, Michael, Tinker Bell, and the Lost Boys, as they try to defeat Captain Hook and his Pirates. The game features scenes from the film and additional pop-up information that help establish the storyline on each level. As Peter Pan, players can run, fly, jump, dive, roll, fight and earn bonus points and extra lives by collecting special objects throughout the game.

Developed by Saffire, Inc., Peter Pan is rated 'E' for Everyone and has a suggested retail price of $29.99. Additional information about this title and Atari's other kids games can be found at www.atarikids.com.

About the Film

Universal Pictures, Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios are proud to present the first live-action feature film version of Peter Pan since the silent era. And for the first time, a boy - Jeremy Sumpter (Frailty) - stars in the title role, opposite Jason Isaacs (The Patriot, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) as Captain James Hook.

In stifling Edwardian London, Wendy Darling mesmerizes her brothers nightly with bedtime tales of swordplay, swashbuckling and the fearsome Hook. But the children become the heroes of an even greater story when Peter Pan flies into their nursery one night and leads them over moonlit rooftops through a galaxy of stars to the lush jungles of Neverland. Wendy and her brothers join Peter and the Lost Boys in an exhilarating life free of grown-up rules, while also facing the inevitable showdown with Hook and his bloodthirsty pirates.

With unbounded imagination and the latest in visual effects, writer/director P.J. Hogan (My Best Friend's Wedding) and producers Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick (Gladiator, Stuart Little) bring all the wonder, danger and excitement of this timeless tale to life. The cast also includes Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense, Rushmore) as Mrs. Darling, Academy Award(R) nominee Lynn Redgrave (Gods and Monsters) as Aunt Millicent, Richard Briers (Ever Decreasing Circles) as Smee and French sensation Ludivine Sagnier (Swimming Pool) as Tinker Bell. Rachel Hurd-Wood makes her screen debut as Wendy.

Peter Pan has been rated PG (Parental Guidance Suggested - Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children) for adventure action sequences and peril.
